The deployment risks: With unprivileged developers like us, Coca Cola had typically outsourced simpler tools that usually succeeded when thrown over the wall. We explained up front that to do so with this larger project carried a bigger risk of major problems deploying the software to live servers. To eliminate the added risk, we planned a schedule of release "dry runs", involving Coca Cola IT in their deployment roles, to ensure that the final release would go properly.
We treated this piece as a separate project, ran it in parallel with our own development, and tracked issues accordingly. We ran into several difficulties with deployment, and were able to hammer them out before the release date. This resulted in a flawless first-run deployment of the release candidate, which saved the Coca Cola and their IT department quite a bit of time and aggravation.
